The foliage (ecomai) is vegetables in Usuk county during the dry season, edible oil is extracted from its seeds, the wood is termite resistant, crushed fruit and bark extract is used to purify water since it kills snails and waterfleas (cyclops) that carry bilharzia and guinea worms respectively
